First Participation of New Brunswick in
Matane's Women's Challenge

Matane, January 5 2005 - The fourth edition of Matane's Women's Challenge will be presented at the Alain Côté Sports Center from January 14 to 16 2005 in the context of the 36th provincial minor hockey tournament. Six teams will take part in the women's tournament, five from Quebec and one from New Brunswick.

For the first time, the Matane Women's Challenge will host a team from New Brunswick., composed of players from the Sussex region, located in the South of New Brunswick between Saint-John and Moncton.

Collegiate AA League
The project of a friendly hockey challenge for Quebec's Collegiate AA league teams to face our female players from Eastern Quebec & the Côte-Nord began in 2002. In 2005, this collaboration continues with the participation of three collegiate teams: the John Abbott College Islanders of Montreal, the Lévis-Lauzon Cegep Faucons and the Limoilou Cegep Titans of Quebec City.

Visibility for the Regions Female Players
Eastern Quebec and the Côte-Nord count increasing numbers of female hockey players who wish to pursue higher education while practicing their favorite sport. The Collegiate league offers them a high level environment with its dynamic and stimulating Sport-Study Program.

For the girls of the region, it's a unique opportunity to be seen while playing against these teams. The Midget A Cyclones of the Bas-St-Laurent and the Côte-Nord/Gaspésie grouping are the regional teams that will face the collegiate teams once again in this fourth edition of the Women's Challenge.
